Benefits of Hatha Vinyasa Yoga

Hatha is the fundamental system of yoga that focuses on the pairing of poses with the breath. Hatha is the overarching umbrella that includes most of the traditional styles of yoga, including vinyasa.


The two parts of the word Hatha have the essence of the practice. With 'ha' representing the esoteric sun and 'that' the moon, this practice is designed to balance these two energies. Vinyasa is the dynamic part of this practice, which combines the physical poses or "asanas" with inhaling and exhaling, creating a steady inner rhythm for the practice.


Practicing Hatha Vinyasa Yoga the practitioner works in three different axes, the ones of strengthening, flexibility and balance. In this way the practitioner is focusing on the here and now and has a deeper understanding of the connection of his physical and spiritual body.

Lessons of Hatha Vinyasa Yoga

The basic parts of these classes include a wide range of standing, seated and supine poses, twists and balancing poses, inversions, and core strengthening.


The class always ends in the state of utter relaxation, "savasana".


In a Hatha Vinyasa Yoga class, the tempo and intensity of the practice are adapted to the needs and the mood of the class.


The class is open to all levels of practitioners as the instructor is able to offer variations of the asanas, depending on the level of each practitioner.


What you have to expect from the Hatha Vinyasa yoga class is increased flexibility, stability, and strength to the body and calmness and clarity to the mind.
